Privacy Policy

Talks ("Talks", "we", "us"), operated by AtaForge Inc., is a private messaging app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We designed Talks to collect as little as possible.

1. Information we collect

• Phone number — used to create your account and verify you via SMS.
• Profile information — your username, optional nickname and profile photo.
• Contacts (optional) — if you choose to sync contacts, phone numbers are used only to show which of your contacts already use Talks. We do not sell or share your address book.
• Messages & media — private one-to-one messages are end-to-end encrypted. Messages and shared files are stored only as needed to deliver them and are permanently deleted when their disappearing timer expires.
• Device & usage data — app version, device type, and basic activity used to operate and improve the service.
• Security data — IP address and approximate location (country/city) used to detect abuse, fraud, and protect accounts.
• Purchase data — subscription status is managed through Apple App Store / Google Play via RevenueCat. We never receive your full payment-card details.
• Advertising identifiers — on the free plan only, we show ads via Google AdMob, which may use an advertising identifier. Premium users see no ads.

2. How we use your information

• To provide messaging, calls, and other core features.
• To verify your identity and secure your account.
• To process subscriptions and show ads on the free plan.
• To prevent spam, abuse, and illegal activity.
• To provide customer support and improve the app.

3. End-to-end encryption & disappearing messages

Private one-to-one chats are end-to-end encrypted, meaning only you and the recipient can read them. Messages are automatically and permanently deleted from our servers once their disappearing timer expires.

4. Service providers we use

• Google Firebase — phone authentication and push notifications.
• Cloudflare R2 — temporary, access-controlled storage of shared media.
• RevenueCat / Apple / Google — subscription management and billing.
• Google AdMob — advertising (free plan only).
• Google Cloud Translation — real-time translation (Premium feature).

5. Data retention

Messages and media are kept only until delivered and until their disappearing timer expires, then permanently deleted. Account information is kept while your account is active.

6. Deleting your account

You can permanently delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Account). This permanently removes your account and associated data. You may also request deletion by emailing [email protected].

7. Children

Talks is not intended for anyone under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected].

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
